Community Lab
Live courageously and co-create a new culture.
Community Lab is a two-month residency experimenting with community living

A Village of Villages
For two months, we gather as a constellation of camps — each one shaped by the people who live there.
Each camp becomes its own experiment - How do we make decisions? How do we relate? How do we co-create the life we truly long for?
You get to decide, together.

The Vision
The five of us met during a community experiment at Mars College (In Southern California) and soon came to realize we were all dreaming of building an Eco Village. We didn’t have a road map of the steps to get us there and we weren’t ready to buy an expensive piece of land together yet. We needed a place to practice living in community and to “date” each other to see if we were a good fit for being life long collaborators.
So we decided to design the experience we need for ourselves in this journey.A community labThis is a place for you to explore the wide variety of aspects that make up life in a flock. We’re hoping this experience will both level up your skills in community building & living as well as widen your (and our) network of community people. It will help you clarify in which ways you want to live in community and what you want your community to be like. It will most definitely prep you for whatever community living project is coming next for you

What might be the outcome of taking part in this experiment?
Well, honestly pretty much anything. You might find new sides to life you never knew you longed for, you might awaken the embodied parts of you that have been yearning for a flock to play-create life with. You might find the other people you’re meant to have by your side in the next chapter of your life. This chapter might be about building a community or something else. Maybe a creative project or a group business emerges, who knows? All we know is that the openings of our hearts multiply when we come together in a sincere longing for life.
Where We Came Together (Mars collage)
Mars College:A three month residential, alternative pop-up college, where a group of people come live and learn together. Many of us build our own living structures out in the desert (like a more sustainable burning man) and create a mini campus. There’s a shared google calendar where anyone can put anything for anyone to attend. Everyone has the ability to both offer and try things, and we’re all learning together and collaborating. You'll find a podcast episode talking about mars with our "Bodhi" and Amy, a mars "camp lead". We're including this episode because we're inspired by Mars in terms of the culture around: Contribution, Participation, Setting the bar low for trying things, helping each other out and the joy of experimentationcheck out the podcast below to get the feel of mars
and enjoy some of the photos below!
